Baskets

African baskets are made across the continent, with notable traditions in regions such as West Africa, East Africa, and Southern Africa. Each region has distinct weaving techniques, materials, and designs, often linked to cultural practices, trade, and daily life. The baskets we carry at Misgana are antique pieces that were used by owners and societies for generations, holding stories and traditions passed down over time. When these baskets were no longer in use, they found their way here, where those stories are honored and preserved. Today, these timeless creations inspire a modern wave of African basketry, blending cultural heritage with contemporary design and continuing to influence both decorative and functional art globally.
