Celebrating Women’s History Month

Hello,

As Women's History Month comes to a close, I want to reflect on the role of women in reshaping industries. Misgana African Art honors my journey as a Black, East African woman leading this business.

In 2024, I left my corporate career at The New York Times to pursue my passion for African art and design. Inspired by the exclusivity of the industry, I created a space where people can engage with and own African art in a more inclusive and accessible way.

At Misgana, we focus on functional artifacts—ceremonial stools, headrests, and objects—that bring these meaningful pieces into modern spaces.

To celebrate Women's History Month, I’m excited to share three of my favorite pieces from our collection, showcasing the artistry of diverse cultures across the continent.

Thank you for supporting me on this journey of integrating African art into contemporary spaces with intention and purpose.

With gratitude, Seble Asfaw Founder, Misgana African Art
